downpour? thats an understatement :P this is one of the rare chinese new years' where the weather is actually so cool..heh.. dont you think?

when i think of chinese new years.. i think of being under the blazing sun..carrying half dried mandarin oranges (trying to revive them with a sprit of water) and wearing the wonderfully bright colour red trotting from house to house :))

this year (before the yearly pilgrimage) i had such a great time having a reunion dinner over at my uncle's place. we had the usual lou hei and steamboat.. finishing off the meal with yummy red rubies (the thai dessert) all made from scratch by my uncle :D *applause*

then we had the flashback session where they started their banter on how time flies.. how much we have grown.. and not forgetting to nudge my sis into telling them when she is getting married :P.. oh no.. in five years time i will be in her position! hmm..
but thankfully my grandma (bless her heart) said that its such an important decision that should not be taken lightly and jumped into as and when :) my sister was saved..

heh..

the joy of reunions..

did you know that you can see the planet venus from your window?

yes i do enjoy gazing into the sky at night, with the wonderful breeze and all.. thats really how i lull myself to la la land on sleepless nights..
..
venus is the twinkling star you see that has a tinge of red :) go take a look and see if you can spot her..

cny is coming along pretty soon.. which means my departure from comfort zone is drawing near.. its sad and strange but all this while, i have been mummy's little brave girl who went to nursery, kindergarten, primary school etc all by herself (when the rest of the kids had their parents/ grandparents to be with them) but now its a pretty big leap to go to another country for a year without mum by my side.. getting soppy here :P

so if you see a girl in the departure hall on the 11th..sniffing and tearing... dont point and stare at me ok?

happy cny ya'all

whats wrong with peeling prawns for your partner?

i wondered as i read the article at the sunday life section a few weeks back..the writer had a thing for women who peeled prawns for their man and made comments to express her view that women shouldnt really do so..

personally, my basic 'rule' for a relationship is 'fairness', i say this instead of the much talked about "need" for 'equality' as it is impossible for a lady to be equal to a man.. we just have to face it.. there are things than men can do and women cant, definitely vice versa. you can only come up with a win-win situation when you strive for fairness instead of equality.. its a you-do-your-part-and-i-will-do-mine kinda agreement.. dont you think?

so in fairness, i mean treating your other half with respect and kindness.. not slaming them at their slightest inadequacies or failures but being there to support one another.. pampering included :)

think about it, wont it be such a pleasant surprise when your partner peels the prawns for you the next time you have a seafood dinner? i feel thats its such a quiet yet sweetest gesture..

why not you do the same?

p/s: and dont forget your 'thank you's :)

i have reached this point in my life where things are changing.. friends are getting engaged (some already married), talking about how many kids they would like to have/ dont want to have, opening their own shops and setting up their own business, clubbing all weekend nights away in to-be-seen places, getting the latest gadgets/ phones etc etc..

i am not saying that progress is not good.. its good actually.. so i think the issue lies within me.. i just really enjoy being a girl but i have no choice to move on to be a lady..not trying to say that being a lady requires all of the above mentioned.. i guess i will do it my way :)
