"Under the microscope, I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty; and
it seemed a shame that this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by
others. Every crystal was a masterpiece of design and no one design was ever
repeated. When a snowflake melted, that design was forever lost.
Just that much beauty was gone, without leaving any record behind." -
Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley (1925)
my fascination for snowflakes came about since i was a little girl..then, not knowing what real snow was like, i used to imagine what it would be like under an ice-kachang maker, surrounded with all that 'snow'.
'is it like powder, like it seems on tv?'
'can i make a real huge snowman? one as tall as me?'
'will it hurt if i rolled it into a ball and took a shot at my sister?'...
the first time i laid my eyes, hands and already half frozen nose in snow was when i went on a trip to china after my 'o' levels.. it was amazing.. we were visiting one of the attractions - the temple of heaven, when it started to snow.. how magical can that be..
"This magnificent piece of art is a perfect example of pure beauty and marvel."
like how each of us is unique in our own little way..so is the tiny snowflake..when we hold snow in your hands, with millions of snowflakes at our mercy, its just amazing yet sad at the same time..especially when you know that an art, pattern, design, will be lost forever.. as it slowly dissolves..
but hey..i guess a new one will always come floating down, landing on our nose and eye lashes..
